Arek ”Antonio” Mytko

Born in Katowice , Poland in 1973. Graduate of Silesian Technical University in Gliwice and Silesian School of Management in Katowice.
Since 2002 he’s been wandering around the world looking for new challenges. Antek travelled through Siberia, Mongolia and China.
n 2005 he left for Latin America the very first time. He spent almost a year on the continent, most of which in Patagonia. Patagonian highlands have become his home from that time on.
He spent the winter season climbing in Tierra del Fuego. Antek conquered 11 summits, most of them alone.
His greatest achievements in that region were:
· Monte
Olivia
· Cerro
Bonete
· Cerro
Cinco Hermanos
· Cerro Mano
Spring season was devoted to rock climbing in El Chalten and Bariloche - Aguja Frey among others.
In early 2006 he repeated the achievement of Wiktor Ostrowski (a famous Polish traveller to Latin America and writer), kayaking down the Rio Parana, fifth greatest river on the globe.
It took him 42 days to paddle through 2000 km, with temperatures mostly exceeding 40 C and amongst strong winds.
Antek spent also the 2006/2007 season in En Chalten, Patagonia. In spite of one of the worst seasons in the past few years he managed to climb the satellites of Fitz Roy - Aguja Guillaumet, Aguja Poincenot and Cerro Solo.
In autumn that year, he also traversed part of the third world’s largest glaciers: the Continental Glacier.
In the meantime he’s been climbing in Scotland (Ben Nevis, Buachaille Etive Mor, Ben Eigh), Mexico, Brasil and Polish Jura Krakowsko-Czestochowska during his short stays in the country.

During his expeditions he lives with the locals, assimilating with the surroundings and getting to know the culture of the inhabitants. Apart from extreme sports, he’s also passionate about photography and writing about what he saw and experienced.
For a couple of years he’s been writing travel articles for Mensa Poland. His “Asia 2002” series has been awarded with the main prize for best publication.
The biggest Polish daily - Gazeta Wyborcza published his story on his adventures in Torres del Paine park in Chile.
His nearest plan is to go back to Patagonia for 2008/2009 season and attempt the two giants of this region, that are listed among the most challenging in the world: Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.
Then, in winter 2009 he wants to cross Patagonia biking, skiing and kayaking - over 4000 km in this cold and windy land.
In Latin America they call him Polaco Loco - the Crazy Pole.
Since the physical challenge Triatlon Patagonico
implies is enormous, the team has made a commitment to undertake an
arduous training that will increase the likelihood of success in this
dream.
However, the physical preparation, though essential, it is not the only
requirement of a project like this one. Our aspirations to success
also depends on having other resources such as equipment, food and
transportation. That is why we feel the need to seek support. If you are interested in
being part of this dream please contact us. In gratitude, we offer presence on every page of this website, both of
your logo and links to your own website, to bear your corporate image
in our equipment and make it appear on the photos and videos we will
produce and show in exhibitions. Also, for those who will support us
with equipment, we promise to give reviews of the performance
that the product has had during the expedition, here on the website
and on the articles we will publish in magazines, newspapers, radio
and television.
We appreciate your support.
